The debate about asthma and hyperventilation is not about whether asthmatics hyperventilate, but which comes first. Conventional medicine states that the narrowed airways associated with asthma causes hyperventilation, but the Buteyko theory argues that the hyperventilation causes the narrowing.
In real life, the argument does not really matter: It is accepted that if you have asthma, then you hyperventilate. The real question should be, "If I stop hyperventilating, can I stop the asthma?"
“Buteyko makes sense and it works! I couldn’t believe how fast it began to take effect: as soon as I began using the technique. Now I am off all drugs. It is so simple and effective - I am telling everyone about it.” Pat
